This is a VERY rare organism called spirostomum semivirescens. It is so rare that it has only been spotted a few times since its discovery in 1852 and very little research have been done about them. Until a few months ago s. semivirescens had only been documented in 3 countries in the entire world. But in April @jam_and_germs documented them in a fourth country, and now I have documented the organism in Denmark 🇩🇰 as only the fifth country in the world!

S. semivirescens is a ciliate with endosymbiotic algae. It is quite large considering it is only a single cell and can reach a length of over 1 mm. So if you want to hunt for this rare cell yourself, it is possible to find it with even the simplest and cheapest microscopes!
